Deal recognizes National Charter School Week, Teacher Appreciation Week

Gov. Nathan Deal this week highlighted the contributions and positive impact of state charter schools, as well as recognized Georgia teachers for their commitment to students of every age. May 7-11 is National Charter School Week and Teacher Appreciation Week.

“Charter Schools promote competition, innovation and creativity within our education system while providing parents with more choice and flexibility,” Deal said. “Parents deserve a voice when it comes to their children’s education. I’m proud Georgia is home to top-performing charter schools, and I’ll continue to support their creation and growth. Charter schools are another example of how our state continues to invest in our children’s education and their futures.”

The son and husband of teachers, Deal thanked Georgia educators for their efforts in the classroom each day.

“From Pre-K to postsecondary institutions, teachers devote their lives to shaping the minds of generations of Georgians, helping us enlighten our communities and increase our quality of life,” Deal said.
