WOODSTOCK — A newly elected Woodstock councilman fell in love with the city when he moved there 13 years ago, and now, he is ready to take his seat at the council’s first meeting of the year Monday.

Warren Johnson, 41, was elected Nov. 5 to fill the Ward 1 seat of outgoing city Councilman Randy Brewer, who decided not to run for a fourth term last year.

“I am very excited about joining the council,” Johnson said Thursday. “At this point, I feel I am in a transition between being an involved citizen to a council member. I am very much looking forward to being sworn in on Jan. 13 and getting more involved.”

Johnson has lived in the city for more than a decade and lives there with his wife, Andi, 11-year-old son, Alexander, and 9-year-old daughter, Abby.

“Thirteen years ago I fell in love with Woodstock and bought a home here. Since then, I have watched it grow from a sleepy town to a thriving city,” Johnson said. “I feel that the decisions made over the next five to 10 years will have a very lasting impact on the quality of life for the citizens. I want to be a part of the decision making process and help ensure Woodstock remains a great place to live for generations to come.”
