CORDELE, GA (WALB) – Georgia House Speaker David Ralston toured Cordele’s inland port Friday to see how it’s boosting the economy.
The intermodal center is connected by rail to the busy and growing Port of Savannah. Trains bring containers directly from ships to the center. Ralston says he’s interested to see if some of the successes at the facility could be duplicated in other parts of Georgia.
“When you talk about the Savannah Harbor deepening project and the interaction between these facilities, I’m excited about these having a real future that’s going to be positive things for this parts of Georgia and all of the state frankly,” said Ralston.
