The new Gainesville elected mayor post drew one more candidate Tuesday during the second day of qualifying.

Rose Johnson, a small-business owner who had previously announced her intentions, filed her paperwork, joining Danny Dunagan and Charles Alvarez in the race. The new position will be in addition to a council of five who represent five wards.

Others who qualified Monday for that council include Sam Couvillon, an insurance broker, for Ward 1, and incumbent George Wangemann for Ward 4. Ward 1 was vacated by Dunagan.
