ATLANTA (AP) — Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed announced his bid for a second term. Reed launched his campaign Monday outside Atlanta City Hall.
The 44-year-old mayor is a Democrat, but he has tried to frame himself as a pragmatic problem solver rather than a partisan.
He was a frequent surrogate campaigner for President Barack Obama leading up to the 2012 election. But he’s also worked closely with Republican Gov. Nathan Deal’s administration on a new downtown stadium and with Georgia’s Republican congressmen on expanding the port of Savannah.
