Candidates wishing to run for either Richmond Hill’s city council or mayoral seat must qualify for the November 5 election next week.

While incumbent Mayor Harold Fowler, and sitting council members Russ Carpenter and Van Hunter have both announced plans to seek reelection, no candidates have announced their intent to run in opposition.

Candidates may qualify between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. August 26-29, and from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 30 City Clerk Ursella Lee said.
