Coweta a ‘seller’s market’ for homes – The Newnan Times-Herald

The housing market in the Coweta County area has changed drastically during the recession, especially in the last several months.

It is now a seller’s market. Prices are up, new homes are being built, and existing homes are selling quickly — and for close to the asking price.

Some sellers are even seeing multiple offers for their homes, which was uncommon even during the height of the housing boom.

“It’s actually a seller’s market from about 0 to $350,000, which is great news,” said Cindy Taylor, president of the Newnan-Coweta Board of Realtors.

The “inventory” of available homes is “very very low” right now, Taylor said.

“What this means is that houses are getting snapped up as soon as they are put on the market. We are seeing lots of homes getting contracts within a week … and lots of multiple offers.”

That’s multiple offers on regular sales, not just foreclosures or short sales.
