Foreclosed properties are sold the first Tuesday of every month on the steps of the Coweta County Justice Center. However, a few times a year, a very different type of real estate auction is held – the sheriff’s tax sale.
The first tax sale of 2013 will be held Tuesday and will begin around 2 p.m. Tax levies were filed against a large number of properties (117), but only a small percentage of those will actually go on the auction block, and even fewer will be bid on.
‘At the last tax sale, we started out with about 100,’ said Coweta Tax Commissioner Tommy Ferrell. ‘Twenty five ended up going to the tax sale, and we only had four or five that were actually bid on.’
