Bibb County commissioners Thursday agreed in a 4-1 vote Thursday to award a contract to BB&T Insurance Services for employee benefit consulting services for the consolidated Macon-Bibb County government, which begins Jan. 1.
That marks a reversal from Tuesday’s 3-1 decision to delay a vote and instead ask BB&T, Gallagher Benefit Services and The Segal Co. to make presentations to the board before a final vote.
BB&T was the unanimous choice of the consolidation task force’s Human Resources Committee, and the Macon City Council approved the same contract 13-0 on Tuesday night as part of an intergovernmental agreement.
Commission members Sam Hart, Gary Bechtel, Bert Bivins and Joe Allen all voted in favor of the agreement Thursday.
