Newton Citizen | Mills announces he will seek fifth term as Conyers mayor

CONYERS — Conyers Mayor Randy Mills has announced he will seek election to his fifth term in office.

Mills was first elected in 1997 and if re-elected would be the longest-serving mayor alongside Charles Walker, who was mayor from 1978 to 1997.

“After much discussion and prayer with my wife, Carol, I have decided to seek a fifth term as mayor of Conyers,” Mills wrote in a statement announcing his intentions to seek re-election. ”I have always considered one of the highest public honors is to serve my community. I love this community and cherish the opportunity to continue to make a positive difference for all of our residents in all of our neighborhoods.”

Mills, who is the president and owner of Sigman-Mills Furniture Company in Conyers, has an undergraduate degree in history and political science as well as a law degree from Woodrow Wilson Law School.
