Sen. Renee Unterman (R – Buford) will hold a press conference and candlelight vigil in support of the “safe harbor” legislation for child victims of human trafficking. The proposed legislation will officially be pre-filed in the Georgia Senate on December 11, 2014. The “Act” will protect Georgia children from further victimization after he or she has been discovered to be sexually exploited by ensuring a child protective response is intact. The “Act” will be accompanied by a resolution for a constitutional amendment proposing a fund to ensure a system of care is maintained derived from increased penalties upon convicted persons with offenses of pimping, pandering, and/or human trafficking.
Sen. Unterman will host the press conference and candlelight vigil in conjunction with Street Grace, Wellspring Living, youthSpark and Georgia Cares.
