COLUMBUS, Ga. – A Columbus man announced Monday he would like to be the one to take over the seat being left empty by Georgia’s senior Senator Saxby.

Standing in the shadows of international flags and draft copies of the United States Constitution, Todd Robinson announced his run for United States Senate at the Columbus City Government complex.

“This is my first time in politics,” Robinson told News 3 in an interview after his announcement. “I think that is an advantage. People are looking for that fresh look, fresh idea.”

On the issues, Robinson says he supports gay rights and believes civil unions are the answer.

“Marriage should be between a man and a woman; yes. But we cannot control who we love,” Robinson says. “And I think same sex marriage should be a union instead of a marriage.”
