Holding a sign advocating awareness of climate change Tuesday afternoon, John Blevins listened intently as a group of Savannahians appealed to their neighbors to take action to reduce the effects of the issue.
Blevins, who intended to spend the day reading in Forsyth Park, quickly joined the small rally in the park’s south end Tuesday after a representative from the “I Will” Act on Climate bus tour told him about the rally.
“It sounded interesting,” Blevins said. “I’ve always been involved in pushing for clean air.”
Local business owners, a state representative and leaders from Savannah civic organizations joined the bus tour Tuesday on one of its stops along the 27-state circuit it recently began to promote President Barack Obama’s recent announcement of a plan to fight climate change.
The speakers, all from Savannah, told the crowd the issue was important not only to the global environment, but also to Coastal Georgia’s.
