Adoptable (Official) Georgia Dogs for February 9, 2023

On Saturday, February 11, 2023, the Newnan-Coweta Humane Society and Coweta County Animal Service will hold a special emergency adoption event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the shelter, located at 91 Selt Road in Newnan. From the Newnan Times-Herald:

Critical overcrowding at the Coweta County Animal Shelter has put healthy, adoptable animals at risk of being euthanized – something that rarely happens at the facility, which typically utilizes euthanasia mostly in cases of very sick or aggressive animals.

However, the shelter remains over capacity by at least 25-30 dogs, forcing Animal Services to put Tyson, Nicole, Tom, Carley, Effie, Axel, Grace, Jinx, Misty and Johnny – dogs that have been at the shelter the longest – on the kill list.

If they don’t find homes by Wednesday, Feb. 15, by 5 p.m., they will be euthanized to free up kennel space.

All adoptions at the Coweta County Animal Shelter are $25. That fee includes spay or neuter surgery, the first round of vaccines and an implanted microchip that helps identify the pet if it should ever be lost.

Adoptions are free for Coweta County employees, military veterans and seniors 65 or older. Heartworm-positive dogs are also free to adopt.

Coweta Animal Services is located at 91 Selt Road in Newnan. Adoption hours are 10 a.m. to noon and 1-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
