Effingham County will open its first dog park, according to the Savannah Morning News.
Effingham County’s first dog park will open soon at Pineora Park and two more are in the works.
County Administrator Tim Callanan said dog parks and walking trails are the two most requested passive recreation features at county parks. “We anticipate the dog parks will be a popular attraction,” he said.
Commissioners on Feb. 2 unanimously approved on first reading changes to the county animal ordinance that were needed for the parks and were scheduled to vote on the changes on second and final reading Tuesday.
Dog parks also are planned at the Clarence E. Morgan Recreation Complex, on Ga. 21 in Springfield, and at the McCall Road Park on McCall Road.
