Gwinnett County Animal Shelter is waiving adoption fees for all dogs and cats through June 30, 2018, according to the AJC.
Dogs and cats give birth to litters in high volumes during the spring and summer months, often filling local shelters with adoptable animals. Gwinnett County shelter staff decided to offer free adoptions to make room for as many animals as possible during the high volume season, a release said.
The shelter currently has nearly 200 animals in its custody, from puppies and kittens to senior dogs and cats. A rabbit and a small rooster are also available for adoption.
All animals are spayed or neutered before they go home with their new owner. They also receive a medical exam, vaccinations and a microchip.
