First Lady encourages volunteers to participate in statewide day of service
Georgia organizations participate in fourth annual ‘With a Servant’s Heart Day’
First Lady Sandra Deal today encouraged Georgia citizens to participate in the fourth annual statewide volunteer day of service, “With a Servant’s Heart,” on Jan. 10. This day devoted to helping those most in need kicks off a series of events for Gov. Nathan Deal’s second inauguration.
“Nathan and I launched With a Servant’s Heart in 2011 as a way to give back to the communities and state that we love,” said the First Lady. “We have never viewed serving others as an option — for us, it is a cornerstone of our faith and a deeply rooted personal duty. We want to spread the message of selfless servanthood in Georgia, and we look forward to working alongside those who join us this year.”
The Deals selected 1 Peter 4:10 as the theme for the inauguration: “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”
The Deals will volunteer at the following locations:
The City of Refuge
1300 Joseph E. Boone Blvd NW
