Chatham County voters will have the opportunity for the first time to vote on a Sunday in the upcoming general election.
The county’s Board of Registrars on Wednesday unanimously approved opening its polls Oct. 26 from noon to 5 p.m. at the Board of Registrars Main Office, 1117 Eisenhower Drive, Suite E.
The extra day during the three-week early voting period — Oct. 13 through Oct. 31 — ahead of the Nov. 4 election could allow poll access to people who would otherwise not have time to vote in person, said Colin McRae, the board’s chairman.
