Rep. Tom Price: Statement on Establishment of Benghazi Select Committee

Your Washington – GA 6 – Desk

From Congressman Tom Price:

Congressman Tom Price, M.D. (GA-06), responded to the vote by the House of Representatives to establish a select committee to investigate the terrorist attack on the American consulate in Benghazi, Libya, that killed four Americans, including the U.S. Ambassador to Libya, saying:

“Nearly two years since four Americans were murdered, including the first US Ambassador killed in the line of duty since 1979, far too many unanswered questions about the terrorist attacks in Benghazi remain. Serious work has been done in the House of Representatives to seek the truth, so we can bring to justice those who killed these brave Americans, hold our own government to account and prevent future acts of terrorism. The next important step in those efforts is the Select Committee the House has just authorized.

“Recent revelations about the Obama Administration’s stonewalling and misleading response to this attack – information previously withheld from Congress and unavailable to the public – make the establishment of a select committee all the more necessary. With Rep. Trey Gowdy – someone with an unwavering commitment to conducting a fair and thorough investigation – leading this committee, I am confident our search for answers will continue to reflect our serious commitment to strengthening transparency, accountability, and our national security.”

Congressman Tom Price, M.D., is the vice chairman of the House Committee on the Budget. He is also a member of the House Committee on Ways and Means, as well as the House Committee on Education and the Workforce. An orthopaedic surgeon, he spent more than 20 years caring for patients in the metro Atlanta area.
