Sen. Unterman Releases Statement on Gov. Nathan Deal’s Child Welfare Reform Council Appointments

Sen. Renee Unterman (R –Buford) issues statement regarding Gov. Nathan Deal’s appointments to the Child Welfare Reform Council:

“I am delighted to acknowledge Gov. Nathan Deal’s appointments to the Child Welfare Reform Council. After working with Sen. Fran Millar on the Senate Task Force for Foster Care Reform in 2013, I know he will perform an excellent job representing the Senate’s interest in making significant changes to how the State of Georgia takes care of our most valuable citizens in foster care services.

“Senator Millar and I sit beside each other on the Senate chamber floor. I also have full confidence in the appointments of Sen. Freddie Powell Sims and Sen. Burt Jones. Together we all share an interest in child welfare and education. With collaboration, I am positive the state will begin pilot demonstration projects improving transparency, accountability, and outcomes impacting foster care services.”
