Woodstock leaders looking ahead – The Cherokee Ledger-News: Weekly News

With a mix of ideas to come from one new council member and returning incumbents, the 2014 Woodstock City Council is looking forward to finishing past projects and implementing new initiatives.

Mayor Donnie Henriques, who ran for re-election unopposed, said he originally ran for the position eight years ago in order to better organize and create harmony among council members.

“There certainly is more harmony,” he said about the current council. “Once votes are taken, it’s over. No hard feelings on anybody’s part. That wasn’t the case prior to my arrival.”

While the issue that made him originally run has been resolved, Henriques said there are three major projects he would like to accomplish in his next term: the Towne Lake/Arnold Mill intersection widening, the amphitheater and the groundwater well exploration. He said the road widening is the most critical.
