Confusion over absentee and early voting counts shouldn’t be an issue in the Oct. 15 runoff for mayor and four commission seats, an election official said Wednesday.
Steve Allen, vice chair of the Macon-Bibb County Board of Elections, said those ballots would be the among the earliest counted after the polls close at 7 p.m.
Allen said the board’s discussing the situation with county technical officials to make sure the absentee and early voting tallies aren’t mixed in with totals from the 40 precincts.
Meanwhile, Allen said the board scheduled Saturday, Oct. 5, as the weekend day for early voting in the runoff. It’ll be held at the elections board office on Pio Nono Avenue.
