New Ga. economic development commissioner named | Online Athens

ATLANTA (AP) — A senior aide to Sen. Johnny Isakson will start a new job in November as Georgia’s top job recruiter.

The Georgia Department of Economic Development’s board voted Thursday to approve Chris Carr as the agency’s new commissioner. Carr has served as Isakson’s chief of staff in Washington since 2007 and was nominated for his new job by Gov. Nathan Deal.

Carr is scheduled to start Nov. 1. He will replace outgoing Commissioner Chris Cummiskey, who is leaving state government to take a job with Southern Co.
