Georgian’s Obamacare bill draws coverage – Atlanta Business Chronicle

U.S. Rep. Tom Graves, R-Ranger, is getting a lot of ink on his plan to defund Obamacare.

The Wall Street Journal, inside-the-Beltway publications Roll Call and The Hill, Reuters and ABC News are among the media outlets that have run stories or made mention of legislation the North Georgia Republican introduced Thursday offering to fund the federal government for the coming fiscal year and delay the Affordable Care Act until 2015.

One reason the bill has gotten so much attention is that 43 House Republicans immediately signed on as cosponsors.

The legislation seeks to avoid a showdown between Democrats and Republicans over Obamacare, weeks before Americans are to begin enrolling in a health plan through state-based insurance exchanges established by the new law, and months before the effective date of a requirement that individuals buy health insurance or pay a penalty.

House Republicans have threatened to shut down the federal government when the fiscal year ends Sept. 30 unless President Barack Obama delays implementation of the Affordable Care Act.
