The Floyd County Commission on Tuesday approved putting the issue of Sunday alcohol sales on the November ballot by a vote of 3-to-1.
Commissioner Larry Maxey opposed bringing the issues of Sunday on-premises and package sales of beer and wine to a public vote. Commissioners Irwin Bagwell, Garry Fricks and Rhonda Wallace passed the measure. Commissioner John Mayes was absent.
“It’s just my personal conviction,” Maxey said after the meeting. “A lot of my voters called me and asked me to vote no.”
