Republican Senator Buddy Carter Announces Campaign For Congress

Emphasizes support for major tax relief proposals, Balanced Budget Amendment, district’s ports and military

(Pooler)—Republican State Senator Buddy Carter announced Monday morning that he will be a candidate to represent Georgia’s First congressional district. The seat will open in 2014 due to the Senate candidacy of Congressman Jack Kingston.

Sen. Carter made the announcement on the radio show hosted by Bill Edwards and Laura Anderson on News Radio 1290AM/97.7 FM.

“I’m running because we need major change to our tax code to cut taxes. As our new Congressman I’ll support leading tax relief proposals like The Fair Tax Plan and the 20% Flat Tax to greatly reduce or eliminate income tax,” said Carter.

“Our current income tax system is poisoning our economy and killing productivity, exports and jobs. Our people deserve better, our Georgia ports deserve better, and taxpayers deserve better.”

“It’s time for a renewed effort to pass a Balanced Budget Amendment to stop the Obama trillion dollar deficits that are on the horizon as far in the future as eye can see,” said Carter.

“As our Congressman I’ll give 100% support to protecting the military installations across our district. It is the height of irresponsibility for President Obama to put our sons and daughters in harm’s way while decimating our military.”

Carter also announced his new campaign website, www.BuddyCarterForCongress.com

Buddy Carter is a former Mayor of his hometown of Pooler, GA and is in his third term as State Senator. He has been a pharmacist for more than 30 years and successfully runs a small business, Carter’s Pharmacies, Inc., with locations in Pooler, Rincon and Garden City.

Buddy was born and raised in Port Wentworth, GA. He is a graduate of Young Harris College and the University of Georgia where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy.

Buddy has been married to his college sweetheart, the former Amy Coppage of Waycross, for 35 years. They have three sons, Joel, Barrett and Travis, and one daughter-in-law, Megan.
