Does a Senate run require new shoes for Savannah’s Jack Kingston?

James Richardson articulates something I’ve been thinking for a while about both Kingston and a couple other candidates since seeing Paul Broun stand before the Walton County Republican Party and throw red meat to the right.

Whereas rival Reps. Paul Broun inveighs President Barack Obama’s secret affection for the “Soviet constitution” or Phil Gingrey offers an inartful defense of Todd Akin’s abortion politics, Kingston’s mild demeanor and willingness to forge bipartisan consensus is a possibly liability in a primary in which voters place a premium on most conservative.

Maybe it’s time for Kingston to trade his penny loafers for some cowboy boots. He won’t be the only Republican in the market, I’m sure.
