I am running for Congress because it has become increasingly clear that Washington is broken and has no real solutions to the challenges facing our nation.
Leaders at both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue have consistently failed to pass balanced budgets or cut the wasteful spending and reckless debt that threaten our future. It is time for fresh ideas and new faces in Washington.
The federal government’s endless cycle of debt and deficits robs tens of millions of Americans of opportunities and achievements that define the American Dream. It is a cycle that must be broken.
I believe that hope and dignity come from opportunity, not from a government program or a taxpayer-funded check.
Creating a culture of government dependence is not only destructive for our economy, it is immoral. It destroys the very principles that define our nation’s greatness – life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
While some will say what is broken can’t be fixed, I argue that what is needed are not just new solutions but a new type of problem-solver.
As Chair of the Georgia House Majority Caucus, I fought for the significant cuts and tough decisions that balanced Georgia’s budget. It was not easy, but leaders are elected to deliver serious solutions – even in hard times.
As a small business owner I know firsthand the crushing impact of the federal government on job creators: complicated and destructive taxes, burdensome red tape, and unnecessary regulation.
As a state legislator, I have worked with other outstanding conservatives to show that government can be responsible to taxpayers, that red tape and regulation can give way to job growth and economic development, and that taxes can be cut and budgets can be balanced.
As a wife, mother and now grandmother of three, I am keenly aware of how important it is to get America back on track so our great nation can offer the next generation the same boundless opportunities it has given us.
If this approach appeals to you, I would love to have you on my team. Please like me on Facebook and follow me on Twitter so we can start a conversation about how to fix Washington. Your early support will be crucial to my campaign and I would be extremely grateful if you would join us.
