Georgia’s Senior US Senator: Save Scalia’s Vacancy for Next President to Fill | Daily Report

Georgia’s senior United States senator has come down firmly on the side of delay in filling the vacancy created by the sudden death of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.

“The American people are going to the polls in November to pick the next president, and I think the next president ought to be the one who fills that vacancy, not the one who’s on the way out,” Republican Sen. Johnny Isakson said in a statement sent Sunday to answer a question from the Daily Report. Isakson added, “I’d like to see a Supreme Court justice who rules on the law and doesn’t try to make the law.”
