ST. MARYS — The Camden County Commission will have more than its normal first-meeting-of-the-year housekeeping issues to discuss today.
After choosing a commission chairman for the year, commissioners will discuss a replacement for longtime county attorney Brent Green, who has accepted an appointment as Camden County Juvenile Court judge. He replaces Judge George Turner, who recently retired after serving in the position since 2006.
Green was hired as Camden County attorney in 1995 and served in the position for all but one year, until his resignation Wednesday.
County Administrator Steve Howard said he wasn’t formally notified about Green being offered the judge’s position until Dec. 31. He said he will be looking for direction from commissioners about hiring a replacement.
“It appears he was the most likely candidate for the job,” Howard said of Green’s appointment.
