I’m excited to share with you that I am going to run for State Senate District 42. A formal announcement will come in early January, but as we end the year and come in to the holiday season, I wanted you to hear the news from me.
As you know, I made the tough decision in 2012 not to run for reelection after my district was badly gerrymandered and combined with that of Rep. Scott Holcomb. I had won a hard-fought race in 2010 and knew that a divisive primary was not good for anyone.
Now I couldn’t be more excited about the opportunity to return to the Capitol! There is a history of strong leadership in Senate District 42, and I know that I have big shoes to fill replacing my friend Sen. Jason Carter and my former boss Ambassador David Adelman.
I have the experience under the Gold Dome necessary to fight for your family and every Georgian, and I look forward to getting back to work.
Thank you so much for your support during my time as a State Representative and I hope I can count on you again in 2014. I am looking forward to spending the holidays with my husband Briley and our sons Brooks and Reid and am excited to get back on the campaign trail in January.
Wishing you Happy Holidays from our family to yours!
All my best,
