State Rep. Bruce Williamson not running for 10th Congressional District

Dear friends,

As many of you know, Vickie and I have been considering running for 10th District Congressional seat next year, due to the fact that Dr. Paul Broun has announced his intention to run for U.S. Senate. We have received tremendous feedback and are grateful for every call, email and text we’ve received, as well as the face-to-face discussions we’ve had all over the district.

Our nation is a perilous state. Our very freedoms are under assault. What cannot be controlled by law is being dictated through regulations. As is so often stated, “Our greatest national threat is the federal debt.” Our deficit is rooted in a lack of moral fiber, driven by a class warfare mentality and an entitlement structure that is destructive to the principles which made this nation great. Vickie has pointed out that our national dependence on the Government “nanny state” mentality is a self exultation of man’s ability which slaps Almighty God in the face. The insatiable thirst for taxes hurts earners at all income levels. Selfishness is pervasive. As a conservative businessman who has had experience balancing budgets, God has given me a skill set to help attack the fiscal crisis. The challenge comes in where, and how, I can be most effective in doing this.

I felt called to run for the Georgia House of Representatives three years ago and my fellow Waltonians honored me with their trust. It has been a tremendous experience which I have taken very seriously. Serving on four great committees, with the additional honor of be being named Vice Chairman of the Banking committee, I’ve been entrusted with the ability to make a difference on proposed legislation, often most effectively by helping to identify and kill bad legislation. There is much to be done on the state level that can help reign in an “out of control” Federal Government. By enforcing our 10th amendment rights, a strong state is the best way to combat the terrible things coming out of DC.

What I love most about representing District 115 is my daily connection with constituents. I hear your concerns and can act on them. I will offer fast and effective constituent services when state bureaucracy frustrates you.

Walton County is a central hub of conservative principles, and Republican voters, for our congressional district. We will have a major say in determining who we send to Washington as our federal representative. She is also deserving of state representation engaged and focused on local issues, and this is where my heart currently rests. I pray for the one God has chosen to represent us in DC, and I ask you to be involved in the process by listening carefully to the views of each candidate. Look beyond the negative press and discover what each candidate will focus on if elected. We are in need of a statesman who will work in a responsible manner, addressing that which unifies us rather than polarizes us, so that the great moral crisis of the national debt will be addressed.

Vickie and I love Walton County, the great State of Georgia and the United States of America. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for your love and support! We pray for all candidates running, at every level of government, that they will they will handle themselves with integrity, and that they have campaigns of dignity with respect for all who chose to offer themselves for public service.

Blessings to all,

Bruce and Vickie

P.S. Please be in prayer for those involved in the terrorist attack unfolding in Boston.
Bruce Williamson
