Galloway cites “custodial evidence” that Sen. Mullis will serve as Rules Chair

From Jim Galloway’s Political Insider:

Informally, word has long been out that Don Balfour, R-Snellville, had reached the end of his tenure as chairman of the Senate Rules Committee. Officially, nothing has changed.

But geography is status at the Capitol. And any change in geography requires logistical support. The trash container at right was parked this afternoon outside Balfour’s fourth-floor office – next to the hearing room reserved for that committee.

Likewise, Jeff Mullis, R-Chickamauga, and Renee Unterman, R-Buford, have been angling to replace Balfour. The two senators have offices next to each other in the Capitol basement. Unterman’s is bright and neat.

Mullis’ den has a large trash bin outside, and is topsy-turvy inside.

“Painting?” suggested an aide. Not hardly.

Pretty sure someone told last week that me Mullis would Chair the Rules Committee.
